About me
Lynn Short is a survivor of an abusive and obscure cult, New Gnostic Society. This teaching has very little to do with the ancient sect of Christianity. Gnosis was conceived by a man named Victor Rodriguez from Colombia (1917-1977). He claimed that he'd awakened his consciousness fully and realized his Godhood as the God of Mars, renaming himself Samael Aun Weor. His faith was a hodgepodge of various new age/occultist thought, Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbala, Indigenous spiritualism and astrology. The doctrine itself was harsh and self condemning and the biggest fork in the road was the sexual teachings. If you were a member you were required to have sex in the prescriptive way that he taught, which was to have sex with your married partner but not reach orgasm. After 17 years as a member (7 of which were as a missionary) and several scandals later Lynn could not in good faith continue with the group and left. Her husband was "fired" from his position 3 months later, via email to the entire community. It's been six years now and Lynn's life is much better, happier and freer. And no God did not send lighting bolts from the sky to punish her. In fact Lynn has not noticed the absence of God at all. The sense of meaning in her life has only expanded. And though that meaning is no longer derived by spiritual quests, she finds it to be more fulfilling than her previous quest. She lives here in Spokane with her husband and four pets. You can either find her out on one of her adventures or at her massage practice.
