About me
Joan Braune is Lecturer in Philosophy and Instructor in the Doctoral Program in Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University. Her research and community involvement focus on countering hate groups. She published two new books this year: Understanding and Countering Fascist Movements: From Void to Hope (Routledge) and The Ethics of Researching the Far Right (Manchester University Press), edited by Vaughan, Braune, Tinsley, and Mondon. She is currently completing a co-edited volume with David Gides on Christian nationalism. Dr. Braune is a frequent invited speaker to help community organizations, high school teachers, labor unions, faith communities and others, understand and respond to the threat posed by hate groups. She has served on the International Council of Experts for the Gonzaga Institute for Hate Studies and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Hate Studies.
